John Murphy, 86, Rites on Monday

Services for John Edward Murphy, 86, of 1605 Woodland Ave., will be at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Irish Settlement. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Mr. Murphy died of arteriosclerosis Thursday at his home. He had been ill two years. Born in Madison County, he lived in Des Moines 42 years and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

One brother, Thomas S. Murphy of Des Moines survives. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in Caldwell-Brien Funeral Home.
