Graveside services for Asa Dowler, 86, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the St. Charles Cemetery with Jim Reyer of Ankeny officiating. Mr. Dowler died March 19 at Winterset Care Center South.
The son of Steward and Sarah Hogg Dowler, he was born on December 15, 1892 in South Township. He was next to the youngest of six children. On August 7, 1939 he was married to Blanche Roberts who died on November 14, 1964. They had no children.
On June 27, 1972 he married Margie Marshall who survives him. He is also survived by two stepsons, Jim Marshall and Harold Marshall of San Jose, Calif., two nieces and three nephews.
Mr. Dowler farmed and raised livestock all of his life. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of St. Charles, Masonic Lodge at St. Charles, and American Legion Post at Winterset.
