Funeral services for Veronica “Vera” Stout, 79, of Winterset were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Mrs. Stout died June 25 at Villa West Care Center.
Born on March 14, 1900 at Greenfield, she was the daughter of Richard E. and Marguarite Jane McIntyre Letz. She was married to Otho Dean Stout on May 7, 1927 in Albany, Mo.
A school teacher in Madison County years ago, she was a nurses aide at Madison County Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the 60 Plus Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Otho, her parents, two brothers and a sister. Surviving are two sons, DeVerne Stout of Lorimor and Loren Stout of Waukee; three brothers, Clarence Letz of Des Moines, Don Letz of Earlham and Dale Letz of Winterset; two sisters, Alice Arnold of Winterset and Byrl Armbrest of Des Moines; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
