Mrs. Messersmith Passes At Age 84

Pearl Amanda Messersmith, wife of Rudolph G. Messersmith, died Monday, Nov. 20, 1978, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 84 years of age, born March 5, 1894, in Fremont, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Emma Melzene Sweet Flesher.

A housewife, Mrs. Messersmith was a resident of Madison County for 28 years. Her marriage to Rudolph Messersmith took place in 1948 in Winterset. He survives his wife.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Eugene Rowe of Valparaiso, Ind., Gene Lamar Rowe of Plymouth, Ind.; a daughter, Velma Francis Jordan of Auburn, Ind.; a brother, Bruce Flesher of Chariton, Ia.; also five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Pearl Messersmith were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Updike officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
