L. C. Peckham of Macksburg Died Saturday

A native of Cumberland, Iowa, Lloyd “Bud” Currier Peckham, 77, died Saturday, February 12, at his home in Macksburg. He was born November 18, 1899, the son of Albert C. and Litia Amelia Currier Peckham.

A farmer in the Macksburg area until his retirement in 1961, Mr. Peckham was married to Lucy L. Edwards on February 17, 1917, in Fontanelle. She survives her husband.

Other survivors include a son, John Peckham of Macksburg; three daughters, Mrs. Orie (Adaline) Wallace of Orient, Mrs. John (Virginia) Kinyon of Lorimor, and Mrs. Harold (Jean) Eivins of Macksburg; a brother, ------------ of Mesa, Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Horatio (Mary) Steward of Red Oak, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mr. Peckham had lived in Adair County from 1917 to 1928, in Adams County from 1928 to 1942 and in Madison County from 1942 until his death. He served as a school board and telephone company director and was chosen king of the 1976 Macksburg Centennial Celebration. He was affiliated with the Christian Church.

Mr. Peckham was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mrs. John (Phoebe) Gaidies, a brother, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for L. C. Peckham were conducted Tuesday, February 15, at 1:30 p.m. from the Macksburg United Methodist Church, Rev. John Ackerman officiating. Burial was made at Moon Cemetery.
