Funeral services will be held at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for Florence Hymes of Des Moines. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery.

Miss Hymes, who was 85, died at the Common Wealth Care Center in Des Moines Monday, May 10th.

Florence Hymes Death at 85

A native of Winterset, Florence Hymes, died Monday, May 10, 1976, at the Common Wealth Care Center in Des Moines. She was 85 years of age, the daughter of Milton and Elizabeth Hymes.

Born February 4, 1891, Miss Hymes worked as a school teacher and bookkeeper. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge. Miss Hymes was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Surviving are five nieces, Eleanor Barnes, Edna Taylor, Maxine Thompson, Phyllis Howell and Evelyn Leland.

Funeral services for Florence Hymes were conducted Thursday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. from Collins Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Hall officiated. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery.
