Death Here of Hubert C. Fosher
Hubert C. Fosher, life-long resident of Winterset, died at Madison Manor North on Saturday, March 20. He was 81 years of age.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 30, 1894, he was the adopted son of Samuel and Almaretta Fosher. He was united in marriage to Alma Johnston on April 27, 1918 and to this union were born two daughters: Martha F. Hammans of rural Lorimor, and Betty E. Canfield of Des Moines.
Mr. Fosher was an abstractor for Madison County Land and Title Company for 48 years until his retirement in 1965. Mr. Fosher was an active participant in civic affairs, having served as a member of the city council, school board, and was a local and district committee member of the Boy Scouts of America. For over 50 years he had been a member of the Knights of Pythias, Lotus Lodge No. 48, and had also been a long-time member of the I.O.O.F. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two foster brothers and one foster sister, a granddaughter, and his wife. Surviving him are his two daughters, three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great grandson.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 23, with the Rev. Phill Hall officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
