Rites for Carl Shoemaker Held

Funeral services were held here this Monday for Carl Shoemaker of Winterset, who died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital here Friday, January 24. He was 73 years of age.

Carl Shoemaker was a native of Madison County, born near Winterset on August 12, 1901. He was the son of George and Orlena Shoemaker.

Mr. Shoemaker lived in Madison County his entire lifetime, except for a short time in Warren County. He was a farmer, although he worked for a short time with the Farmers National Farm Management Company.

He was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Winterset.

Survivors include two sisters, Jane and Ruth, and a brother, Ralph Shoemaker of Winterset.

Mr. Shoemaker was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 27 at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
