L. Peacock Services Held

Lawrence Peacock of Winterset, a lifetime resident of Madison County, died at Madison County Memorial Hospital here last Friday, May 24. He was 80 years of age.

Mr. Peacock was born in Winterset on October 21, 1893, the son of William and Martha Cornman Peacock. He was married to Lenora Martin at Winterset on February 29, 1920.

Mr. Peacock, a retired farmer, lived at 525 E. Washington in Winterset. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include five children: Gene Peacock of Phoenix, Arizona; Merlin Peacock of West Des Moines; Robert Peacock of Winterset; Dorothy Berry of Norwalk; and Martha Berch of Winterset. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Eggers officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
