Funeral services were held Tuesday for Dale F. Smith of St. Charles who died last Saturday, May 4 at Des Moines General Hospital. He was 61 years of age.
Dale Forest Smith was born in Madison County on October 6, 1912, the son of Lester and Mable Allen Smith. He was educated in the Madison County School system and married Ruth Scrivner at Shenandoah on February 24, 1938.
Mr. Smith was employed by Rock Island Motor Transit. He was a member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his mother, Mable Smith of St. Charles; two daughters: Helen Louise Bobst of St. Charles and Dorothy Belle Schecter of Sioux City; and a son, Donald Eugene Smith of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by four grandchildren; by two brothers: Harold Smith of Truro and James (Capp) Smith of St. Charles; and by three sisters, Esther Read of Macksburg, Irma Scrivner of St. Charles and Edna Honnold of Lorimor.
He was preceded in death by his father, his wife and one son, Robert Dale.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the United Methodist church in St. Charles with the Rev. Eldon Ringle presiding. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
