Hazel Loomis Services Held
Mrs. Hazel Loomis, a well-known resident of the Macksburg community, died Feb. 29, at the Horton Nursing home near Winterset. She was 75 years of age.
Mrs. Loomis was a daughter of the Rev. Edward and Ella Ballenger, and was born in Oakland, Nebr., on Nov. 13, 1897. Most of her life was spent in the Macksburg area, where she was active in community affairs, and in the Macksburg Methodist church where she was a long-time member. She was a member of the W.S.C.S. of that church, and for 40 years a member of the Macksburg Garden club.
She was married Nov. 28, 1919, to Dr. Frank W. Loomis, who survives her. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Peggy J. Loomis of Omaha and Mrs. Barbara Ballard of Denver, Colo. She also leaves a grandson and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held March 3 from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Willis Grant. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
