Gerald died Monday, December 24, 2012. He was 85.

A visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 26th at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 27th at the First Christian Church with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice.

Charles Gerald Paullin was born in Madison County, Iowa on August 27, 1927 to Guyle and Ruth (Johnson) Paullin. His marriage to Marjorie Lorraine Dick took place on May 12, 1946 at the First Christian Church and to this union three children were born, Connie, Dan and Nancy.

Gerald was a farmer all of his life and also established and managed the Paullin Seed Company for 40 years. He also sold Cen-Pe-Co oil products.

He was a member of the First Christian Church. Gerald loved his daily coffee fellowship at Hardees and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. He was a devoted husband; father and grandfather and his grandchildren fondly recall how their hands-on grandpa always made time for them.

He is survived by his children, Connie (Bill) Wilson of Fort Worth, TX; Dan (Darcey) Paullin and Nancy (Gary) Anker both of Winterset; nine grandchildren, Bill (Dawn) Wilson, Stacey (David) Brady, Brady (Jenny) Paullin, Jared (Jen) Paullin, Tyler Paullin, David (Sarah) Anker, Betsy (Derek) Little, Bailey (Tony) Krull and Sam (Missy) Anker; 13 great grandchildren, Kaisa (Matt) Lupardus; Greg and Chloe Wilson; Owen and Ian Brady; Sophie Aeschliman; Boston, Charlie, Kannon Anker; Summer Jo and Jaxx Little and Kinnick and Tinley Krull and one great-great grandchild, Max Lupardus. He is also survived by a sister, Frances Wyatt of Osceola and a brother, Rex (Carol) Paullin of Ankeny.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marge and a brother, Wayne Paullin.
