Services Held For Clarence Roberts

A retired Madison County farmer Clarence E. “Kelly” Roberts died last Friday, August 20 at the Horton Nursing Home in Winterset. He was 81 years of age at death.

Mr. Roberts was born in Adair County on March 21, 1890, the son of James and Maggie Weaver Roberts. He came to Madison County some 75 years ago. It was in this county that he married Berdena Givan in 1915. She preceded him in death in 1956.

He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

One son, Kenney Roberts of Des Moines, and three daughters, Mrs. Lois Armstrong of Winterset, Mrs. Eunice Kindler of Vancouver, Washington, and Mrs. Ruth Cline of Torrence, California, survive. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two nieces, Mrs. Helen Goodwin of Winterset and Mrs. Dorothy Doud of Des Moines.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Collins Funeral Home at Winterset, with the Rev. Newton Coughenour officiating. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
