Larry Beeler, Peru

Larry B. Beeler, son of Albert Donald Beeler and Dorothy Darlene Beebe Beeler was born February 26, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 76 years of age.

Like his father, Larry received his early education at the Ebenezer Country School and later attended and graduated from Truro Consolidated High School. He then attended Iowa State College until 1957 when he began farming the land that his great-grandfather homesteaded. Larry was very proud that this farm is a Heritage Farm with over 150 years of ownership by the Beeler Family.

Larry was united in marriage to Nelda Ruth Swan on December 22, 1956 at the family home. Five children, Donald Bruce, Dale Allen, Larry William, Gary Dean and Rebecca Ruth blessed this union.

As mentioned, Larry was not only a lifetime farmer but he was dedicated to soil conservation in Madison County. He served as Soil and Water Conservation Commissioner for 54 years, was Past President of the Conservation Districts of Iowa and also served as Treasurer of the National Association of Conservation Districts, receiving their Distinguished Service Award in 2008.

Those relatives who preceded Larry in death were his parents; son, Dale Allen in infancy and his sister Linda Diann Beeler.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory; wife of 56 years, Nelda Swan Beeler of Peru, IA; son, Gary (Laura) Beeler of Peru, IA; son, Larry (Lynne) Beeler of Indianola, IA; daughter, Becky (Steve) Koerwitz of Centennial, CO; son, Don (Becky Kerr M.D.) Beeler of Castro Valley, CA; grandchildren, Hallie, Madison and Forrest Beeler at home in Peru, IA; Hannah and Grant Beeler at home in Indianola, IA; Bradley Koerwitz at home in Centennial, CO; Lauren Beeler at home in Castro Valley, CO.

In keeping with Larry's wishes, he has been cremated and private services will be held at a later date.
