Neal D. Silverthorn of Lorimor, a resident of Union county most of his life, died Monday, April 6 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Silverthorn was born near Macksburg Feb. 7, 1893, a son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Hower Silverthorn. With the exception of 11 years in Des Moines, his life was spent in Union county.
For most of his life Mr. Silverthorn engaged in farming and worked as a brick-layer, plasterer, and other types of work. He was also a musician.
He attended the Methodist church as a young man.
Mr. Silverthorn was married March 3, 1913, to Marie Smith, who survives him.
He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Kneuper of Redfield; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Rogers of Arizona; a brother, Dan Silverthorn of Winterset, six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Friday from the Watts and Soll Funeral home at Lorimor, conducted by the Rev. James Seibert. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
