Earlham, Ia 50072Carol Jean Wachter, 62, of West Des Moines passed away July 2, 2012 at the Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines. A private graveside service will be held at the Earlham City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol Wachter Memorial Fund in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Carol was born November 10, 1949 the daughter to Lloyd and Ila (Bricker) McClurg. She was united in marriage to Gary Wachter on March 28, 1970 and to this union they were blessed with their daughter Marti and her husband Michael Cowman, and their son Brady and his wife Leigh Ann and their grandson Benjamin Wachter.
Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her most beloved pastimes were to spend time with her family, study the Bible, sew, cook and research genealogy. Carol also loved to travel and her favorite vacation spots included: Paris, London, Hawaii, Washington DC and the Bahamas. Although she spent most her life living in Iowa, Carol and her family lived in Southern California for several years where she cherished long walks on the beach and day trips to the mountains. Carol's most recent enjoyment came from her role as a grandmother and she cherished every minute she had with him.
Carol was proceded in death by her parents, sister Janice Davenport, brothers Bob and John.
She is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Marti Cowman (Michael), son Brady (Leigh Ann) and grandson Benjamin.
