Truman Gibbons of Barney Dies

Truman W. Gibbons of near Barney, a Madison county farmer since 1925, died May 5 at the Clarke county hospital in Osceola. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Gibbons was born in Madison county Aug. 26, 1898, a son of Albert and Ida Thurman Gibbons. When he was 12 years old, the family moved to Kress, Tex. He was married there, on April 23, 1925, to Zora M. Johnson. They moved to Madison county, where they resided until his death.

In boyhood he was baptized in the Methodist church at Kress, Tex., but on moving back to Iowa transferred to the Barney Christian church.

He is survived by his wife; three children, Mrs. Velma Jenkins of Boone, Wayne A. Gibbons of Norwalk, and Robert W. Gibbons of Murray; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 7 from the Murray Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jim Epperson officiating. Burial was in Barney cemetery.
