Garry Black of St. Charles Dies

Garry D. Black of St. Charles, a life-time resident of Madison and Warren counties, died Friday, March 21, at his home in St. Charles. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Black was born in Madison county, Aug. 12, 1892, a son of James R. and Sarah Ann Souders Black. He was married Feb. 11, 1920, to Clara Coles, who survives him.

He was a charter member of Gripp-Williams post of the V.F.W. at St. Charles, and an elder in the St. Charles Christian church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. John Minard of Truro and Mrs. David Streyffler of Des Moines; a brother, Ora Black of St. Charles; and a sister, Mrs. Wesley Bumbarger of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held March 24 from the St. Charles Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Des Moines. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
