Archie D. Moorman, 88, of Winterset died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles. A visitation will be held 1 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 23 at the church with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A private burial will be held at the St. Charles Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, St. Charles.
Archie Dale Moorman was born October 26, 1924 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Homer W. and Minnie (Hullinger) Moorman. He graduated from Leon High School in 1942 and later married Imogene Frost at the Leon Brethren Church on September 30, 1945 while on furlough from the Army. He then served in the United States Army for over a year in Germany during World War II.
Archie and Imogene moved to a farm near St. Charles in 1950 and together managed the farming operation and raised two children, Herb and Joyce. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at the age of 12 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles for many years.
Archie is survived by his wife Imogene of 67 years and are proud parents of a son, Herbert (Velda) Moorman of Des Moines and a daughter Joyce (Jeff) Scheffers of Winterset; 4 grandchildren, David Moorman, Jennifer Hutchinson, Travis Scheffers, and Jessica (Nico) Darr; 3 great-grandchildren, Ava, Camille and Isaiah Hutchinson; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Fern LaFollette, Fay Zachau, Hazel Pickering and Virgil Moorman.
