Roberta Silverthorn, 66, of Macksburg, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the Macksburg United Methodist Church in Macksburg with Pastor John Safford officiating.
Her body has been cremated with the cremains to be interred in the Moon Cemetery at a later date.
Roberta was born on October 6, 1946, at Des Moines,Iowa to Clair and Nola (Killion) Rogers. She grew up in the Orient-Macksburg area, graduated from Orient-Macksburg High School, and attended one year of Bible college in Omaha.
She was married on July 16, 1966 at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset to Fred Silverthorn. She had spent most of her life in the Adair and Madison county area and had owned Home Town Decorating in Winterset for 23 years. She had been a member of the Fellowship Church in Madison County; was a member of the Friendly Neighbor Club; she and her family went to churches, events, and Madison County Bridge Festivals to sing gospel music; she taught Sunday school classes; and was a pianist for church.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Fred Silverthorn of Macksburg; children, Bobi Jo (Don) Friesen of Norwalk, Melissa Deann (Doug) Easton of Tuscola,IL, and Tabitha Faye (Steven) Garner of West Des Moines; and grandchildren, Nate Friesen, Nick Friesen, and Brianna Wait.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clair and Nola (Killion) Rogers; brothers, Alvin Dale Rogers and David Rogers; and sister, Melinda Rogers.
Her family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to her family for a future designation.
