Della A. Howell, 100, of the 2900 block of Woodland Avenue died of multiple system failure Thursday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Scottish Rite Park Penthouse. Burial of the cremains will be at Mount Pelier Cemetery in Patterson.

Mrs. Howell was born in Winterset and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a homemaker and had taught school in Madison County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Madison County Farm Bureau. She was a seamstress and an artist.

She is survived by three daughters, Ida Mae Erickson of Madrid, Phyllis Wittrup of Lakewood, Colo., and Rose Ann Schmaltz of Des Moines; a son, Curtis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis.

Dunn’s Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
