G.W. Brassfield Rites Conducted Here Sunday

Marysville Resident Since 1923 Came to Kansas Claim With Parents as a Small Boy

Funeral rites for Grant William Brassfield, who died Friday at his home in Marysville, were held at the Kinsley Chapel Sunday morning, with the Rev. C.W. Hildebrand officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery at Beloit. Mr. Brassfield had lived in Marysville since 1923.

He was born January 12, 1871, near Winterset, Iowa, and as a small boy immigrated to Kansas with his parents to a claim near Glasco. There he grew to manhood. His father's death placed him at the head of the family at an early age.

He married Miss Belle Brooks at Concordia on September 3, 1891.

For the greater part of his life Mr. Brassfield was employed by the railroad, except for several years which he spent with the Olney music company in St. Joseph, Mo., and Salina. He was a member of the Masonic orders and the Christian church.

Surviving him are his widow; four children, Carl Brassfield, Van Nuys, Calif.; Lloyd Brassfield of the home; Mrs. Alice Arnold, Kansas City; and Mrs. Marie Kellar, Albany, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Ott and Mrs. Grace McLain, Alhambra, Calif.; one brother, B.R. Brassfield, Medford, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
