June 16, 2010William Lenze was born the son of Charles and Coral (Coffin) Lenze on October 24, 1935 at the family farm in Dallas County, Iowa. He died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on Wednesday June 9, 2010 at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 16 days.
Billie attended Earlham High School. Following high school Billie entered the US Army and served two years. Billie and Sue Dugan were married at the Earlham Friends Church on December 14, 1958, celebrating 52 years of marriage. Billie worked for the US Postal Service as a machine maintenance worker and also farmed until his retirement in 2006. Billie enjoyed hunting deer and raccoon. He loved caring for his stock cows and fattening them for market. Billie also raised fighting chickens.
He leaves the following family to celebrate his life: wife Sue Lenze of Earlham; Dannie, Tony, and Marcie Carey; his mother, Coral Lenze; brother Melvin Lenze; sister Connie Crowl, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Lenze; infant daughter Sherry Lee Lenze; brother Curtis Lenze; sister Charlotte Lenze; nephews Tommy Crowl, Dustin Carey, Billy Seely and niece Cindy Winfield.
Graveside funeral services, visitation and interment were held Friday June 11 at Panther Creek Cemetery in rural Adel. Pastor Doug Jones officiated. Special music was “Just As I Am” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.”
Kuhn Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements.
