Merrill L. Kennedy, 75, of 3217 S. Union St. died of a heart ailment Monday at Veterans Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Winterset Cemetery.

Mr. Kennedy was born in Warren County and moved to Des Moines from St. Marys 20 years ago. He was a retired farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma; three daughters, Ruth Bedwell of New Virginia and Judy Cline and Jean Murphy, whose addresses are unknown; a stepdaughter, Patty Toensing of Highlands Ranch, Calif.; a son, David, whose address is unknown; two stepsons, Michael Fisher of Parker, Colo., and Virgil Fisher of Cleveland, Ala.; three sisters, Helen Blair of Osceola, Virginia Lympus of Jackson, Miss., and Edwina Foley of New Virginia; two brothers, Don of New Virginia and Herbert of Cedar Rapids; and 20 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
