JANESS JACOBSMA, Winterset

Janess Jacobsma, 74, of Winterset died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 3, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. A graveside service was held at Tuesday, Sept. 4, in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery, Ocheyedan. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Christian Academy in Winterset.

Janess was born June 21, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Gary and Mildred (Forbes) Wolcott. Janess grew up in Battle Creek, Iowa, graduated from high school there and later went on to attend AIB in Des Moines. She married Daniel Jessen and later married Orville Jacobsma on March 15, 1974, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marsha Waslewski and a son-in-law, John Panther.

She is survived by her husband, Orville Jacobsma of Winterset; her four daughters, Julie Panther of Donnellson, Lori Martin of Silver Creek, Miss.; Celeste Jessen of Florence, Miss., and Angela Jessen of New London; two step-children, Jacqueline Reusch of Williamsburg, Kan., and Daniel Jacobsma of Pasadena, Calif. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
