Randy Kerr, Winterset

Randy Deane Kerr went to be with Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, with loving family members by his side. 

A celebration of life service was held Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Foursquare Church in Winterset. Burial services followed at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in his name. 

Randy was born in Chicago, Ill., and raised in St. Charles. Once graduated he took off for Naval bootcamp. Randy and Diane Osborn were married April 18, 1970. Randy served 21 years in the Navy, working as a medic and an environmental specialist. He served two tours in the Vietnam war. When he retired in 1988 they moved back home to Iowa. There they lived in Winterset until their deaths. 

Randy is survived by his children, Heather Hatch (Jim) and Jennifer Stroeber (Shawn); 11 grandchildren: Evan, Michaela, Seth, Elijah, Jacob, Zechariah, Caleb, Honor, Titus and Benjamin; his mother, Lillian Kerr of Winterset; his brothers, Terry Kerr of Winterset and Dan Kerr of Andover, Minn.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and Oak Grove church family. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Deane Kerr, and his wife, Diane Kerr.
