Fred E. Wight

Hobson (Special) - Mattie Phillips accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Philip Bradley of Garneill to Billings for the attended the funeral services for their cousin Fred Wight, a former pioneer of this section.

Mr. Wight died at his home in Joliet on October 7. He was 88 years old

He was born at Winterset, Iowa on July 2, 1866 and came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Madison Wight, and 10 brothers and sisters to the Judith Basin, in 1884. The family located on Antelope Creek, and later these holdings were sold to J. D. Waite and became a part of the Waite ranch.

Fred returned to Iowa a few years later and was married there. He came back to Montana with his bride to make his permanent home. They lived for several years on this Antelope Ranch before moving to Joliet. There were five children.

The Rev. William Whanger of the Methodists church at Fromberg officiated at the funeral services which were held at the Settergren Chapel in Billings. John F. Evans sang, 'The Old Rugged Cross' and 'No Night There.'
