October 11, 1932 - June 14, 2012Betty Lorraine (Brinson) Parkins, 79, of Winterset died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Winterset Care Center North.
A visitation will be held 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare; where the family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 at Ochiltree’s. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials to the Winterset V.F.W. Auxiliary will be appreciated.
Betty was born October 11, 1932 in Savannah, Georgia; the daughter of Reubin and Lorraine (Laux) Brinson. She attended elementary school in Savannah Beach, Georgia and finished junior high in Winterset. She moved to Iowa in 1945, graduated from Winterset High School in 1950 and attended college in Cedar Rapids.
Betty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post for 21 years. She belonged to the Women’s International Bowling Congress and the local bowling alley for 34 years.
Betty is survived by her children, Mike (Mary) Siebels of Parker, CO and Kathi Siebels of Des Moines; her siblings, Dorothy (Sam) Pettit, Sarah Ann Smith, Harold (Suzy) Brinson (half-brother), and Wayne Brinson (half-brother); eight grandchildren, Sean (Amy) Siebels, Hillary Siebels, Nicole Tiernan, Josh Winjum, Tiffanie (Brian) Wetzel, Ryan (Tawan) Siebels, Lisa (Jay) Keith (step-granddaughter) and Lori Hutton (Tracy Horton) (step-granddaughter); and eleven great-grandchildren, Natalie, Owen, and Margaret Siebels, Madison Stevens, Jerrod, Kelsey and Courtney Keith (step great-grandchildren), Chase, Shelby and Connor Horton (step great-grandchildren), and Abby Wetzel (step great-granddaughter).
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy Siebels; a grandson, Michael Siebels; and her half-sister, Harriet Blanchard.
