Mabel “GG” Banks, 93, of Winterset died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 4, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, with burial in the Blair Chapel Cemetery in South Township, Madison County, Iowa. Memorials to Middle River Hospice will be appreciated.
Mabel Anna Mae Wignall was born July 30, 1918, in Flagler, Iowa; the daughter of Lambert and Grace (McGrew) Wignall. Her marriage to Venzell “Frank” Banks took place on March 8, 1938, in Des Moines. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1982. Mabel was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son-in-law, Dave Pickar; and siblings Violet, Loretta, Delores, Harold, Albert, Alvin, Roy and Glenn.
She is survived by her children, Janet Pickar of Winterset; Roger Banks of St. Charles and Jerry Banks of Osceola. She is also survived by a brother, Russell Wignall of Des Moines, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
