Eric S.Albrecht, Truro

Eric S. Albrecht, 42, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, with family present to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, near Van Meter. Memorials may be made to the Kiya Koda Humane Society (1206 N. Jefferson Street, Indianola, Iowa 50125).

Eric was born May 8, 1970 in Des Moines, Iowa; the son of Theodore and Beth (Floden) Albrecht. He attended Van Meter Schools and later married Vicki Zimmerman on February 24, 1990 at the St. Charles Parish in St. Charles. The couple met when they both worked at Fareway in Winterset. Eric drove truck for various trucking companies during his career and founded Albrecht Trucking, Inc. in 2001. 

He was a member of OOIDA (Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association). He also served as President of the Madison County Cattlemen's Association and served on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Eric loved riding his Harley, boating and camping, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with family, especially his boys.

Eric is survived by his wife, Vicki of Truro; his two sons, Clayton and Kyle Albrecht both of Truro; his parents, Ted Sr. and Beth Albrecht of Van Meter; a brother, Ted (Megan) Albrecht, Jr. of Van Meter; a sister, Johanna (John) Powell of Van Meter; father and mother-in-law, Ernie and Nancy Patterson of St. Charles; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
