WALTER CAUDILL, INDIANA

Walter Franklin Caudill, 97, of Coalmont, Ind., died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Jasonville, Ind.

Walter was born Nov. 19, 1914, in Lexington, Ky., the son of James F. and Fannie (Eldridge) Caudill. His family moved to Iowa when he was five years of age. On Sept. 8, 1943, he married Grace J. (Silliman) Caudill, and to their marriage six children were born. Walter was a farmer his whole life. He had also worked at Solar Aircraft factory, and as a truck driver for a turkey hatchery. He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Winterset, serving in past years as an Adult Sunday School teacher and on the church council.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Grace; a son-in-law, Roy (Budd) Grindstaff; a granddaughter, Bailey Williams; two sisters, Gertrude Sorline and Jewel Utterson.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; daughters, Loris Grindstaff of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Lola Borders of Jasonville, Ind., and Lorrinda Ertl of Racine, Wisc.; sons, Loren Caudill of Peru, Loyd Caudill of Gailion, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, James Dorsey Caudill of San Diego, Calif.; and sisters, Dessie Kennington of Houston, Texas, and Esther Smith of Peru.
