Mary Jane Caskey, daughter of Robert and Susan Caskey, was born December 4th, 1862, in Noble county, Indiana, at the age of two years she, with her parents, moved to Marshall County, Indiana, where she lived until she reached the age of 15 years, at which time she came with her parents to Iowa, and settled on a farm two miles west of Hanley, where she lived until she reached the age of 18 years. She was united in marriage to George W. Imes, March 31st, 1881.
To this union was born four children, two sons and two daughters, Ralph, having received a call from Jesus to come up and take his place as one of God's beautiful gems in the flower garden of Heaven, when but a little child. Mrs. Arvalah Attig of near Truro, Iowa, and Mrs. Ivy Youmans, of Rifle, Colorado, and Roscoe of Bentley, Iowa. Sister Imes was converted at the age of 21 years, and joined the Christian church in this little village. She lived a good conscientious Christian life since that time.
Sister Imes was a noble specimen of real Christian womanhood. She lived a pure, sweet life, bearing, sacrificing and sympathizing with and for all under all circumstances. She stood for high ideals in her home life and imparted from her life those characteristics that has shown her good qualities to the family life as well as in Master Kingdom throughout her whole life service. She was a good neighbor, a real friend to all. A loving companion and a real sweet mother to her children. Thus Sister Imes has lived her short life among us. A few days ago she was taken seriously ill and was removed from her home to the Mercy hospital of Des Moines where she underwent an operation. While she suffered long and much she continued to hold on to the thread of life for about nine days, when her physical strength gave way, Jesus stepped into her room and said dear child, come with me, I have a better place for you; and she went out with him.
At the age of 57 years, 8 months, and 6 days, she leaves in the world to fight a conquering battle with sin for a few more years, three children, and three grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, together with a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held on August 12th, at three p.m. at the M. E. church and were conducted by Rev. D. W. Thompson, of Des Moines, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Young cemetery east of town.
