Arvin William Fettkether, Winterset

Services for Arvin William Fettkether, 64, Winterset, who died of cancer July 26 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held July 28 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.

Mr. Fettkether was born in Dubuque and lived in Winterset the past three years. He retired in 1983 after 30 years as a teacher at Des Moines Technical High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a past president of the Des Moines Officials Association and a member of the Indianola Flying Club and Navy Reserve. He had officiated high school and college athletics for 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene; sons, Tom and Jim, both of Des Moines; a daughter, Linda Winget of Urbandale; sisters, Alvera Varner of Johnstown, Pa., and Ada Miller of Port Richey, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
