OFFICIALS HINT AT CRIMINAL OPERATION AS CAUSE OF DEATH
THE THIRD SUDDEN DEATH
Result of Analysis of Stomach Contents Not Disclosed. Another Meyer Mystery.
Justice Cassiday who acted as coroner in the Wilma Meyer post-mortem has not yet received from the chemists and analysis of the contents of the stomach. Officers are inclined to believe that the girl may have died as the result of a criminal operation and that analysis will not disclose poisoning.
Wilma Meyer was the daughter of Ida Meyer of Jefferson township. Who was found guilty of the murder of Ethel Clayton Meyer. Fred Meyer, her brother, husband of Ethel Clayton Meyer, was also found guilty. The supreme court set aside the verdicts and when Fred Meyer was again tried on change of venue at Guthrie Center the jury disagreed and the case was dropped.
County Attorney Phil Wilkinson ordered the investigation two weeks after the death of Wilma Meyer who died June 5. Dr. Hunt, of De Soto was called and the girl made statements to him which have not been disclosed. Dr. Summers who was called the next day, Dr. hunt not being at home, found the girl in dying condition. The girl was 24 years old.
It is believed that the county attorney was induced to order the investigation by residents of Jefferson township who were startled by the third mysterious death in the Meyer family. Ida Meyer’s husband was found dead in the field, the young girl wife was found dying from a revolver shot in the head, and now comes the mysterious death of the daughter.
