Services for Arta Arminta Powell, 97, Winterset, who died Oct. 7 at the Winterset Care Center North where she resided, were held Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Van Patten and the Rev. Lloyd Knouf officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born Oct. 15, 1887 in Webster township of Madison County, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of Samuel D. and Alice Robinson Hillis. She was a practical nurse and homemaker and lived in the area most of her life.
She was married to Lester Vernon Powell on Dec. 29, 1909 at the home of her parents in Jefferson township.
Survivors include a son, Lyle Powell of Huxley; a daughter, Ethel Ackelson of Winterset; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.
