Zoe R. Murphy, 84, of Wesley Acres, 3520 Grand Ave., homemaking editor for Wallaces Farmer magazine for 38 years, died of a heart ailment Monday in Pacific Palisades, Calif., where she was visiting a son. The body was cremated and a memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dunn’s Funeral Home here.

Born in West Bend, Mrs. Murphy during World War I was a member of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.

She had lived in Des Moines since 1919. As homemaking editor at the Wallace Homestead Co., she established the annual Master Homemaker Award in the 1940’s. She retired in 1974.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Polk County Mental—(some of this missing)

Survivors include two sons, ------- of Wheaton, Ill., and Brian of Pacific Palisades; two sisters, Grace Trapp of Clovis, N.M., and Margaret Coulter of Rockville, Md.; a brother, Joseph Rundlett of Seattle, Wash., and seven grandchildren.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
