William T. Cason was born near Bevington, Iowa, July 11, 1871 and passed away at his home at 1509 Maple street, Des Moines, March 27, 1920 at the age of 48 years, 8 months and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Cora Landers Jan. 1, 1896. To this union were born one son, Tolbert and one daughter, Opal, both of whom are yet in the home.
Some 14 years ago, they moved to Des Moines, where they have since resided.
He was decidedly in favor of organized labor. He belonged to the union, and for the past two years has been in the employ of the Des Moines City Railway Co., although unable to do but little work of any kind for the past year. He took a relapse about Jan. 1st and since that time his decline has been rapid. For some time, he was a great sufferer, but found comfort in his religious convictions and experiences. On Feb. 8, 1898 he united with the United Brethren church under the pastorate of Rev. S. M. Zika and was baptized May 15, 1898.
He is survived by his wife and two children; one brother, J. J. Cason of Minneapolis, Minn.; also three sisters: Mrs. Mary King and Miss Barbara E. Cason, both of Schaller, Iowa, and Mrs. Martha Leasure of Beech, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at his home March 22 at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Glendale cemetery, Des Moines.
