Mrs. George Black died at her home in the west part of town early Saturday morning, Feb. 14th.

Another pioneer passed away last Saturday morning, Mrs. Minerva Jane Black of St. Charles. She had taken the flu which developed into pneumonia. Being over 80 years old she was not able to resist the disease. Mrs. Black was the widow of George Black, an early pioneer of South Township, who died some 16 years ago.
Mrs. Black leaves three daughters, Mrs. Frank Jones and Mrs. James Wood of St. Charles, and Mrs. Wm. Edwards of Indianola and many grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday, February 16th at 2 p. m., and burial in the St. Charles cemetery.
________________________Coordinator's note: Per gravestone, she was buried with Hiram Colton, her first husband. Her maiden name was taken from her 1855 Michigan Marriage Record.
