Services for John Henry Countryman, 75, of 5818 Winona Ave., who died of a heart ailment Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. Burial will be in the Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. Countryman was born in Earlham and lived in Des Moines for 43 years. He was a meat cutter for the Iowa Packing Co., retiring in 1963.

Survivors include six sons, Henry, Floyd, Jerry and Roger, all of Des Moines, David of Anamosa and John of Sheboygan, Wis.; two daughters, Dorothy van Haaften of Minneapolis, Minn., and Rosetta Stenger of West Des Moines; 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family will greet friends between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday.
