RICHARD WONDERLIN, Urbandale

Richard James Wonderlin, 79, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at his residence in Urbandale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale, of which he was a member. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Richard was born on Jan. 26, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Roland Anthony and Catherine Margaret (Hansman) Wonderlin. He was a 1950 graduate of Dowling High School. On April 16, 1955, Richard was united in marriage to Jo Ann Kent at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Des Moines. In 1951, he began his employment with The Des Moines Register, working there until Richard retired after 45 years of service. He was a member of The Des Moines Typographical Union.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 57 years, Jo Ann Wonderlin of Urbandale; son, Brett Wonderlin of Des Moines; daughter, Vicki Morlan and her fiancé, Brett Rhoads of Winterset; two brothers, Ralph Wonderlin and Larry Wonderlin both of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Bradly Wonderlin of Des Moines and Autumn Rhoads of Winterset; and four nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews. Richard was preceded into eternal life by his parents.
