MORTUARY - W. L. Sawhill

William Lincoln Sawhill was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, Oct. 11, 1861. Early in the year 1864, he moved with his parents, to Madison county, Iowa, where he lived the greater part of his life. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Rose Bonney, Dec. 31, 1914. He accepted Christ, four years ago, during the Jones tent meeting held in Truro. He died Jan. 20, 1920, aged 58 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Deceased leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, three brothers, J. E. of Truro, N. A. of Seibert, Colo. And L. H. of Boulder, Colo; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Fenimore of Peru and Mrs. Mary Parkins of Poplar Bluffs, Mo., besides other relatives and many friends. A. E. Sawhill of Des Moines, his nephew, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Widaman and son, Merrill; nephew, niece and great-nephew from near Osceola and Mrs. Cecil Wharff of Blockton, niece of the deceased attended the funeral. His parents, one brother and three sisters had passed away to the better land.

His funeral services were held at the Christian church, Jan. 23rd at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. W. F. Wallace of Truro. Three songs, “Abide with me” Beautiful Isle of Some Where” and “Face to Face” were sung by both church choirs. Scripture reading, 23d and 46th Psalm, also passages from Job, Acts and Corinthians were read by Rev. W. F. Wallace, prayer was offered.

Much sympathy is extended to the bereaved family by their Truro friends. He was buried at the Peru cemetery.
