St. Charles News of Interest

Mrs. Earl Knott passed away suddenly at her home east of St. Charles Wednesday night. She had returned home that morning from the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, where she had undergone surgery July 19. Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church.

Elizabeth H. Knott

Elizabeth H. Picken, daughter of James and Ruth Carolyn Picken, was born Sept. 8, 1893, near St. Marys, Iowa. She spent most of her life in Warren county and passed away at her home near St. Charles, Iowa, on July 21, 1954.

She graduated from the St. Charles high school in 1913 and was married to Earl T. Knott on August 11, 1914, and to this union were born two daughters. She joined the United Presbyterian church when very young and transferred her membership to the Methodist church after her marriage.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her home, family, church and community were the supreme interests of her life, where she will be missed immensely.

She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, Earl, two daughters, Twyla and Thelma, two sons-in-law, John McCuddin and Doyle Frank; five grandchildren, Kent and Roger McCuddin, and Carolyn, Mary Beth and Steven Frank of Truro, Iowa. She has one brother, Graham, of Washington, Iowa; Joe who preceded her in death, his wife Louise; two sisters, Ruth and Mrs Myrtle Hayden, a half sister and a half brother, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in St. Charles Saturday afternoon, July 24.

Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
