Page 1Death of HARVEY BALLARD
David Harvey Ballard's death occurred suddenly Wednesday morning at three o'clock. Mrs. Ballard was aroused by his heavy breathing and before help could be summoned he was dead. Mr. Ballard had one or more strokes of paralysis that had left him somewhat crippled and death probably came from a similar stroke.
Mr. Ballard, who was past 70 years of age, was well known in and about Winterset. Five years ago he was married to Mrs. Martha Rogers of Winterset and has lived here since that time.
A daughter by his previous marriage, Mrs. Lulu Kelleck of Baker, Ore, survives; also two sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Clark of Mitchell, S. D., and Mrs. Alice Mineer of Spencer, Iowa, and two brothers, Kokn of Oregon City and Riley of Vancouver, B.C.
Rev. O. P. Beninger will conduct funeral services at the home tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock. Mr. Ballard was a kind man, much liked and esteemed by neighbors and acquaintances and will be greatly missed in this vicinity.
