DAVID FRANKLIN REED, Truro

David Franklin Reed, son of W. E. and Mary A. (Bradshaw) Reed, was born on a farm two miles north of Truro, October 26, 1869 and passed away at his home in Truro, February 24, 1943, age 73 years, 3 months and 28 days.

He grew to manhood on the farm where he was born. He was united in marriage to Miss Julia Banker, February 22, 1893 and to this union two sons were born, J. Fred Reed of Truro and Wendall of Winterset, Iowa. They made their home on the farm for two years after their marriage then they moved to Winterset and were employed at the County Home for two years. They returned to their farm one year then moved to Truro where he went into the hardware and implement business and several years later going into the automobile business which he continued until his health began to fail and he was forced to retire.

He united with the Methodist Church about 35 years ago and has served on the Official Board for many years as Trustee and Steward. He will be greatly missed in the church as he was always loyal to his church and was always present at S. S. and church services as long as health permitted. He served on the School Board for 12 years and was Clerk of the Board for fifteen years. He was always active in the affairs of the town and community. He was an honorable citizen, a kind and obliging neighbor, a good husband and father and he has fought life's battles; has answered the last roll call and now has gone to his reward.

He leaves to mourn, his widow, two sons, four grandsons, one granddaughter, and two sisters, Fred Jr. Reed, who left on Monday before his grandfather's death to serve our country, twin grandsons, Herbert and Harry Reed and David Reed, one granddaughter, Diane; two sisters, Mrs. Hester Reed and Lula Reed, other relatives and a host of friends.

His funeral was held at the Methodist church in Truro last Friday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Clarence Moore of Leon and burial was made in the Truro cemetery
