Byron E. Rogers passed away Tuesday at his home near Van Meter after an illness of about two years.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. L. Hawn. A quartet composed of Mrs. Lloyd D. Fisher, Mrs. John L. England, C. Dwight England and R. Leo Phillips sang, with Mrs. A. G. Felter as pianist. The pallbearers were Keith England, Lester Prouty, Carroll Gutshall, Ralph Terhune, Francis French and Earl England.
Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
Byron Elroy Rogers, third son of James and Mary Rogers, was born December 27, 1914, on a farm northeast of Winterset in Union township and departed this life at his home near Van Meter on Jan. 13, 1942, at the age of 27 years, 16 days.
Byron attended the schools of Madison county and spent most of his life in the Winterset vicinity.
On December 24, 1938 he was united in marriage to Leona Lucinda Cutshall, youngest daughter of George and Susie Cutshall, and since his marriage has lived in Van Meter township.
To their union was born one son Dwayne Elroy Rogers.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother and a sister.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, and little son, his father, James Rogers of Van Meter, three brothers, William of DeSoto, Arthur of Arizona, and Louis of Van Meter, and four sisters, Mrs. Fred Bruett of Winterset, Marie Rogers of Woodward, Mrs. John Tuttle of DeSoto and Hallie Rogers of Glenwood.
