RAYMOND KIDDOO, WINTERSET

Raymond ‘Shorty’ Kiddoo, 86, of Winterset died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset.

A visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 29) at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg, with a graveside service immediately following in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Care Center South Activity Fund or Middle River Hospice.

Raymond Floyd Kiddoo was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Crookston, Minn., to Ben and Augusta (Holdcroft) Kiddoo. The family lived in Minnesota until 1937 when they moved to Iowa settling on a farm near Macksburg. Ray graduated from Macksburg High School and later married Betty Jean Butcher on Nov. 18, 1944, and to this union six children were born. Ray farmed, as well as drove truck cross country for many years retiring from Roadway Freight in Des Moines. Ray was a member of the Teamsters Union and the American Angus Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a sister, Zelma; two brothers; Harold and Junior, a sister-in-law, Patty Kiddoo and two sons-in-law, Jim Scoles and John Melroy.

Ray is survived by his children, Jeanette Scoles, Steve Kiddoo, Chris Eyerly, all of of Winterset; Jeff Kiddoo of Lorimor; Debbie Waltz of Winterset and Tony Kiddoo of Columbia, Mo. Ray is also survived by his brother, Bill Kiddoo of Sparks, Nev.; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ray, 87, died February 26, 2012. 

A visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 29 at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg with a graveside service immediately following in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. Ray is survived by his children, Jeanette Scoles; Steve (Ruth Ann) Kiddoo, Chris (Don) Eyerly all of of Winterset; Jeff (Patty) Kiddoo of Lorimor; Debbie (David) Waltz of Winterset and Tony (Cathy) Kiddoo of Columbia, MO. Ray is also survived by his brother, Bill Kiddoo of Sparks, NV; 23 grandchildren (Jason, Amy, Jennifer, Missy, Heather, Dani, Angie, Heidi, Chad, Colton, Kendra, Natasha, Shelly, Cory, Brandon, Julie, Kiel, Tyler, Megan, Logan, Cade, Ben and Emily), 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a sister, Zelma; two brothers; Harold and Junior, a sister-in-law, Patty Kiddoo and two sons-in-law, Jim Scoles and John Melroy.
