Letha E. Slaybaugh

Letha E. Slaybaugh, daughter of Samuel and Sarah Sipe, was born on September 4, 1868 at Alton, Iowa, in Dallas County and passed away at Creston, Iowa November 12, 1962 at the age of 94 years, two months and eight days.

On January 3, 1884 she was married to Josiah H. Slaybaugh. To this union were born eight children.

She lived on their farm west of Lorimor for the past 48 years. Prior to this she had lived in Guthrie county. For the past 29 years she has made her home with her son, Vearl and his wife.

As a young woman she joined the Christian church in Guthrie county.

Surviving are six children: Earl of Guthrie Center; Don of Liberty, Mo.; Lela McCann, of Gillette, Wyo.; Vearl of Lorimor; and Amel of Gardenia, Calif. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Parker, of Denver, Colo., and Zetta Mansell, of Guthrie Center; two brothers, Berl Sipe, of Crescent, Ore., and Harold Sipe, of Paso Robles, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held in Macksburg at the Methodist church with Rev. Don Frank officiating.

Burial was in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
