Mary Jane Vandermark was born April 4, 1932 to Mable and Everett Brobst of rural Winterset, IA. Mary passed away on February 9, 2012, in Des Moines, IA following a stroke. She was a lifelong resident of Norwoodville, IA.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Daniel Gray. Left to mourn her passing are her children, Richard Hoyt (Gail) of MA, Rosemary Hoyt of Nevada, Buddy Gray of Norwoodville, John Gray of Florida, Sandra McLean (Scott) of Florida, Jimmy Gray (Melody) of Johnston, IA and Harry Gray (Patty) of Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Mary was one of 16 children. Surviving siblings are Violet Anderson (Eddie) of Norwoodville, Patricia Riggs of Des Moines and Arthur Brobst of Winterset.
Services will be held at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines, on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 10 a.m. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
