Obituary:
Marilyn Perry Strawn, 64, began celebrating her eternal life with Christ at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA on February 9, 2012.

Marilyn was one of two children chosen out of love through adoption by Loren and Hilda Perry. She attended Martensdale-St. Marys’ school. Marilyn was united in marriage with Dennis Strawn on September 10, 1971. She lived in St. Charles, IA since 1972.

Marilyn was a devoted homemaker, and served as the Secretary of the St. Charles Parish, guiding ten ministers throughout her 28 years of service. She also served as a dedicated board member of the St. Charles library for many years.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Dennis Strawn; daughter Michelle Amdahl and husband Ken of Decorah, IA; daughter Teresa Johnson and husband Doug of Aurora, CO; son William Chad of Humboldt, IA; grandchildren Benjamin, Samantha, Abeba, Noah, Abram, and Samuel; mother Hilda Perry; father-in-law John Strawn; brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Judy Perry; Dennis’ sister, brothers and spouses, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Loren Perry; mother-in-law, Northa Strawn; daughter Leslie and grandson Dominic Johnson.

Memorials:
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and plants you consider a memorial to the St. Charles Parish scholarship fund, Friends of the St. Charles Library, St. Mary Catholic School or Mercy Hospice in Johnston IA, whose staff provided outstanding care and compassion in Marilyn’s final weeks.

Visitation: Visitation will be on Sunday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at St. Charles Parish Church in St. Charles, Iowa.

Service: Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 13, 2012 at St. Charles Parish Church in St. Charles, Iowa.
