Roberta “Bobbie” Thompson Platt, 83, of Ogden died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, with Rev. Gary Hoyt officiating. Burial was held at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.

Roberta Thompson was born on Dec. 6, 1928, in Guthrie County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel McGiviney Thompson. Bobbie was united in marriage to Francis Platt on Dec. 15, 1946, at her family’s farm in Madison County. The couple lived and farmed near Macksburg where Bobbie worked at Union State Bank for several years. After retiring in 1991, Bobbie and Francis moved to Ogden. Bobbie belonged to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dick, and sisters, Naomi, Grete and Jean.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Platt; three children, Libby Wyatt, Suzy Campbell and Mark Platt; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth, Lee, and Jo.

Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
